I do not recommend that you have more than one anti virus product installed and running on your computer at a time. The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, then those products which do not encrypt the virus strings within them can cause other anti virus products to cause “false alarms”. It can also lead to a clash as both products fight for access to files which are opened again this is the resident/automatic protection. In general terms, the two programs may conflict and cause:
1) False Alarms: When the anti virus software tells you that your PC has a virus when it actually doesn’t.
2) System Performance Problems: Your system may lock up due to both products attempting to access the same file at the same time.
Also, Norton is probably one of the worst programs you can have. It is a huge resource hog with mediocre detection rates. Since it is a trial, I would definately uninstall it(make sure to use the Nortom Removal Tool) and then try one of the following free AV’s.
avast! 4 Home Edition
or
PC Tools AntiVirus
In addition, the following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people to help keep the from getting infected again. As a note, all of the tools and utilities mentioned are either free or have free versions available:
A firewall is very important in protecting your computer from hackers, a great free one is Online Armor.
SpywareBlaster – Great prevention tool to keep malware from installing on your system.
SpywareGuard – Works as a real-time Spyware “Shield” to protect your computer from getting malware in the first place.
Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware – A very powerful on-demand scanner which searches and kills malware that infects your system.
*****It is important to run only one of each type of protection program in resident mode at a time since conflicts can make them less effective. This would mean only one resident anti-virus, firewall and a real-time anti-spyware scanner. Programs like Spyware Blaster and MBAM do not conflict with any of these since they don’t have a real time scanning engine that would conflict.*****

You may only have one antivirus and one firewall
Reason: Two antiviruses or two firewalls will conflict
Ditch norton because you are going to lose it anyway and a free security setup can still be very effective. Keep Avira
Now get some antispyware(you can have more than one antispyware though)
Malwarebytes AntiMalware
SuperAntiSpyware
Once you lose norton you need a firewall
You may only have one firewall
Use Comodo Firewall Pro
OR
Zonealarm Firewall Free
Some extra stuff
Get Firefox(more secure than Internet Explorer)
MyWot(tells you if a site is good or bad)
